Ebru Boyraz Claims Adjuster

Employee Spotlight: Ebru Boyraz

1. How long have you been with Optio, and what you are responsible for?

I have been an employee at Optio for just over 1.5 years now. I am a Claims Adjuster, and my key responsibilities are to ensure that Optio continues to deliver a high-quality claims service to policyholders, brokers, Underwriters, and capacity providers.

2. Could you describe how you got to where you are now?

In 2014 I left university with a Law degree and decided to go straight into legal work. My first role since finishing my degree was working as a legal assistance/ paralegal in Conveyancing, Litigation and Criminal law firms. After 1.5 years I unfortunately realised that the legal industry just wasn’t for me. I began looking for an alternative role and was headhunted for a claim’s administrator role for a reputable company in the city. I didn’t think much of it at first, but I knew that I wanted to get out of the legal sector. To my surprise, after accepting the role,  I worked there for over 2 years and made the decision that I wanted to work in the Insurance sector as a claims adjuster. I’ve never looked back! I am proud of where I am and for what I have achieved over the years.

3. What are you most excited about when it comes to Optio?

Optio brings together the expertise and specialisms of several great companies. I am most excited about collaborating and working with each of those teams, enhancing my personal development as well as company growth! I admire Optio’s collaborative spirit.

4. What advice would you give to any recent new hires/graduates joining the industry? Any career lessons?

I would tell them to enjoy what they are doing, because if they don’t , they will just end up burning out and being unhappy in their role. It is so important that you are happy with your work and the people you work with, as at the end of the day, it is the place you spend most of your time! I would also make sure to let them know that every moment should be seen as an opportunity to learn, and so they should not shy away from anything and approach every obstacle with a can-do and positive attitude.

5. Where would you go if you were granted a one-way ticket to another country of your choice?

Iceland! It is such a beautiful country dotted with natural wonders throughout.
